What is THE THREAD?
THE THREAD is an anonymous writing exchange for screenwriters (and more broadly, creative writers) who would like some quick, crowdsourced feedback on their work (up to 12 pages of script/2,500 words of prose). So far, the pilot program has generated over 800 Reviews with over 200 Readers spanning 5 continents.
Can anyone be a READER?
Yep! The Thread believes that anyone who enjoys stories has an opinion worth hearing, so READERS of all backgrounds are always welcome. Also, everyone has a story worth telling—so by reading new work, the hope is that all participants will be encouraged to create and share their own.
What’s THE POINT?
Everyone gets involved for their own reasons. My goal for this project is to improve the writing evaluation process by (1) increasing access and (2) minimizing bias.
How does IT WORK?
First, I send out a call for submissions/readers.
Then, each participant will receive 1-2 anonymous *short* writing samples, with a few simple questions to answer.
Finally, each writer will receive at least 3 (if not more) reviews of their work.
This is all done anonymously—no one (besides myself) knows who the writers or readers are.
